Instrument: Drums
Favourite Jam Song: Too many to list but probably Funeral Pyre (For obvious reasons)
Favourite Jam Album: All apart from In the City (Good album but far too many good ones followed, like all of them!)
Prior to Setting Sons
Most notably was a successful stint in a Sheffield Trio ‘The Tenants’. An original three piece band, which was immediately likened to The Jam mainly because of its constituent parties, and the fact that the singer looked at a glance like an angry Weller. We toured the U.K, and supported acts such as Sleeper, Mansun and Perfume at the Leadmill in Sheffield. My highlight was turning a record deal down, because we thought we were better than the offer on the table! Yes I know a fatal mistake. But one you make When You’re Young.
Comment
Having spent several years in pop and rock combos chasing dreams of illusive deals, I decided to follow my heart and play what I like. The first album I ever owned myself was ‘Snap’ by The Jam. After hearing its fantastic melodies I went on to collect the rest of the trios albums. I found myself at the tender age of 11 trying to emulate the beats kicked out by Buckler and hold him fully responsible for my obsession with the drums and the quest to find an accompanying Bassist with the ability of Foxton. (Think I’ve done that now!)
